What is wrong with our country?

Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder why Obama's friend,Ayers is still alive? Treason is still a captal crime, isn't it?

I was asking my hubby the other day if Mr. Ayers has done his time. He didn't know and no one talks about it as if he's already paid his debt to society. Its very weird that he is out there teaching and "respected" member of the community, but it seems he hasn't paid for his crimes. Very strange and well.. very middle class white America - isn't it?? I wonder if it would be different if he had been black.

Yes treason is punishable by death.

Mr Ayers and his wife Bernadette Dorn were released because of "prosecutorial misconduct."

Ahhh. That would do it. Leave it to the government to screw up their main job and set a bomber free.

I thought treason was only punishable by death in a time of war.

Treason is something I didn't know a lot about until the last couple of days.

Here is what U.S. Code,Title 18, section 18,2381 says:" Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

I think Ayeres setting off a bomb in the U.S. Capitol qualifies under the "levies war" clause. He has also admitted to being a communist and a north Vietnamese sympathizer, so I am pretty sure that qualifies as treason under the "adheres to thier enemies" clause.

With such a slam dunk case I wonder what the prosecuter did to screw up the case against him.
