Deficits and Lies

While driving to Concord yesterday, I listened to the President's press conference.  I wasn't surprised by anything he said.  However, near the end of the press conference he said, "You know, if you're concerned about long-term debt, that's a good thing to be concerned about, but don't pretend as if America's going bankrupt at a time when the deficits have been cut in half."

Cut in half?  Really?

Here are the budget deficits for the last few years:

FY 2013     $973 billion (Obama)
FY 2012  $1,087 billion (Obama)
FY 2011  $1,300 billion (Obama)
FY 2010  $1,294 billion (Obama
FY 2009  $1,413 billion (Bush)
FY 2008     $458 billion (Bush)
FY 2007     $161 billion (Bush
FY 2006     $248 billion (Bush)
FY 2005     $318 billion (Bush)

So, here is my question.  How is the current deficit of $973 billion half of any of Obama's previous deficits?  How is $973 billion half of Bush's largest deficit? So, the President lied.  Or he's stupid.

And quite apart from that, these deficits do not even include all the increase in our national debt. The federal deficit is the amount each year by which federal outlays in the federal budget exceed federal receipts, but the gross federal debt increases each year by more than the amount of the deficit each year. That is because an enormous amount of federal borrowing is not counted in the budget.

Why do they have problem with our national colors?

Do you remember the 1988 Democratic convention?  I do.  But the only part I remember, other than the fact that they let certain high ranking officials called "super delegates" vote, and that really mean speech by Anne Richards, is that when they built the podium they didn't make it red white an blue.  Instead, they chose muted shades of our national colors: Salmon, eggshell, and azure.

Now President Obama has changed the colors of the Presidential Seal on the oval office rug.  Though most presidents who've had the Seal on their rugs (Johnson was the first to put the Seal on the rug)  kept the colors the same as they always have been, Reagan was the first to change it.  In keeping with his vision of American greatness, and, perhaps related to the "Morning in America" theme he merged the seal with a blazing sun.  Pres. G.H.W. Bush went back to the traditional colors for the seal. Pres. Clinton kept the original colors. Pres. Geo.W. Bush kept the traditional seal but had rays of gold emanating from the seal, perhaps in remembering Pres. Reagan's rug.  But now, as is his right - it is his Seal, at least,  for a couple of more years -  President Obama has changed it to something the 1988 San Francisco Democrats would have loved.  New York Magazine calls it "a less optimistic rug".  I think they are right about that.  A lack of optimism might be part of the explanation, but I think there is more to it than that.  I think they dislike red white and blue, and other symbols of America because they dislike America. Our flag of red white and blue is the flag of the land where they live, but, I don't think, many of them would claim it is "the emblem of the land I love."

I really like my son Basil's Kindergarten teacher.  Each few days she teaches them a new song.  Basil comes home and says: "Daddy listen to my song my teacher taught me."  The songs so far have been "This Land is Your Land", "God Bless America", "Yankee Doodle", "My Country, 'tis of Thee", and "Your a Grand Old Flag".  Each time I've joined in the song with him and each time he was amazed that I already knew the words.  Yesterday, when he came home singing "Your a Grand Old Flag" I said, "Hey, I have something I want you to see".  And I played this video for him.  I wish president Obama and his followers would learn from it why the colors are red, white, and blue instead of salmon, eggshell, and azure.

Obama = Carter

The President of the United States has many jobs. But one matters more than all others. He must so terrify any potential attacker that only the insane would dare attack us. Those few who do attack us he must hunt down and kill. Every time. No exceptions. If he does not protect us from foreign aggression or, failing that, destroy the aggressor who is not afraid to harm us, he violates the Social Contract that holds our all civilizations together. We obey governments because they protect us.

I have now read everything that has been made public about the attempted airliner bombing on Christmas. Presented with incontrovertible and unambiguous evidence of a foreign attack the government failed. The President failed.

Now the attacker is in the custody of the U.S. government. But instead of holding our enemy and trying him as an unlawful combatant in wartime, he is being treated like a civilian criminal in peacetime. He has been read his Miranda rights. Our enemy will be using a court-appointed and taxpayer-funded lawyer. Now every attacker knows that if they are captured alive they will receive the protection of the very laws they were trying to destroy. The President has indicated that our attackers do not need to fear us. They know the President is not going to kill them. This is the President's second failure. The President imperils the nation.

Has he been busy with health care reform, the economy, banking legislation, saving the auto industry? It doesn't matter. He sets the agenda, and the the first item on the Presidents agenda is supposed to be the physical security of the United States. It is his most important job and he failed. It is time for him to go. If he does not resign let the the people reject him in 2012.

He is trapped.

Of course they don't want to reduce the number of abortions. It is their most important sacrament.

Many people think President Obama wants to reduce the number of abortions but disagrees with pro-lifers about how to achieve that goal. People who think that are wrong.

Melody Barnes, the Director of Domestic Policy Council and a former board member of Emily’s List, led the meeting. As the dialogue wound down, she asked for my input.

I noted that there are three main ways the administration can reach its goals: by what it funds, its messages from the bully pulpit, and by what it restricts. It is universally agreed that the role of parents is crucial, so government should not deny parents the ability to be involved in vital decisions. The goals need to be clear; the amount of funding spent to reduce unintended pregnancies and abortions is not a goal. The U.S. spends nearly $2 billion each year on contraception programs -- programs which began in the 1970s -- and they’ve clearly failed. We need to take an honest look at why they are not working.

Melody testily interrupted to state that she had to correct me. “It is not our goal to reduce the number of abortions.”

The room was silent.

The goal, she insisted, is to “reduce the need for abortions.” (Read the whole thing here.)

Fascism in America

Watch the whole thing. Most of it is okay. Some of it I even think is good. But there is one thing chilling: The pledge to be President Obama's servant. It is disgusting. That free people would throw the crown of sovereignty to the feet of a mere politician is an insult to the blood and sweat our ancestors shed for us. Now I see how all those nice Germans marched 6 million Jews into the ovens. Desolation awaits us.

Can you say "quid pro quo", boys and girls?

Today I read this...

As ABC News' Capitol Hill Correspondent Jonathan Karl reported, in February, the Senate unanimously approved an amendment restricting bonuses over $100,000 at any company receiving federal bailout funds, but during the closed-door House and Senate negotiations the provision was stripped out and replaced with a measure by Dodd exempting bonuses agreed to prior to the passage of the stimulus bill on February 11, 2009. (Read the whole thing here.)

A few minutes later I read a list of AIG's political donations...

Top Recipients
Senate Dodd, Chris $103,100
Senate Obama, Barack $101,332
(Read the whole list here)

I've never donated money to an out of state senate campaign, but I have $100 for the first person to announce they are running against Chris Dodd.

Some questions

I listened to the President's speech on how he plans to end the housing crisis. I just have a couple of questions? I made some bad investments in the last 2 years, are you going to bail me out? It isn't my fault the value of my stocks went down. I think you should really help me out. (Gag! Puke!)

Why are you going to take taxpayer money and reward people who bought stuff they couldn't afford? I certainly didn't hold a gun to anyone's head, saying, "Sign that ARM that adjusts to 20% in 5 years." Yet, I who did not buy a house, am going to have to pay more in taxes to help pay for houses of people who made bad business decissions. Isn't that un-American?

President to Reverse Outcome of Civil War

“The president believes that federal resources should not be used to circumvent state laws, and as he continues to appoint senior leadership to fill out the ranks of the federal government, he expects them to review their policies with that in mind," White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said. (Read the whole thing here.)

Well, I think Little Rock and the 101st Airborne Division would be surprised by that. And so would Jefferson Davis. I'm as much of a Federalist as anyone, but we do have a Constitution and that Constitution gives supremacy over state acts to acts passed by the Congress. This was settled legally in Mucculloch v. Maryland (1819) and, on the ground at Appomattox Court House. This is insane. Even though I didn't expect anything good from President Obama, I didn't expect him to try to reverse the outcome of the Civil War. This is why we should never elect lawyers to be President. They think everything, law and history included, is flexible.

Solution to the problem: The President can simply state that the 10th Amendment forbids enforcing the Law (whether or not it does is not relevant.) and then stop enforcing the law. But to say "federal resources should not be used to circumvent state laws" flies in the face of history and settled law, and begs for social discord.

Quantanimo Has Been Ordred Shut...in a year. Maybe.

Our new President ordered the prison camp at Gitmo shut within a year, unless it can't be. Republicans on the Hill have been pointing out that many of the released Gitmo detainees have returned to their terrorist ways. I think this is a good time to revist something I wrote in 2005 on the law of war as it pertains to to Gitmo, POWs, ad Unlawful Combatants. Read the whole thing here.

I wonder how Obama hides his fangs.

When Your Father Starts Shooting Heroin

In my neighborhood I am surrounded by ebullient Obama supporters. Signs, banners, stickers all proclaim the victory of the Wicked Man. My neighbors are rejoicing in the destruction of our country. The sadness in my heart is almost more than I can bear. All I can compare it to is the feeling I might have had if I'd discovered my Father had become a heroin addict. It looks like the country I love, and it sounds like the country I love but it is something else now. It is self-absorbed, short-sighted, willing to sacrifice every good thing to sate evil desire, forgetful of the past, and self-destructive. But there are memories of good things, of the way we used to be.

He Will Appoint Judges

"[W]e need somebody who's got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what it's like to be a young teenage mom. The empathy to understand what it's like to be poor, or African-American, or gay, or disabled, or old. And that's the criteria by which I'm going to be selecting my judges." The Wicked Man, July 2007

O God, the Righteous Judge, save us from this lawless man, please.

What is wrong with our country?

Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder why Obama's friend,Ayers is still alive? Treason is still a captal crime, isn't it?

Obama, Communist

In the video below you will see the interior of an Obama campaign office. In that office you will see a Cuban flag with Che Guevara's face painted on it.

Who was Che? He was God-hating Communist murderer. He was the founder of Communist Cuba's secret police. He is responsible for tens of thousands of executions, several dozen with his own pistol. Christians should not forget that many of Che's victims shouted "Viva Cristo Rey!" as their last words, before the bullets from the firing squad shattered the skulls and ripped open their chests. And we are about to elect Obama, who's paid staff has this flag up on the wall of the campaign office.

What is a vote for Obama? It is a vote for our own destruction. He will bring into office with him people who think the Stasi and the KGB and the Gestapo and the Securitate were good ideas that should be revived here in America.

Won't you, please, help defend your country from these terrible people?

And you thought only the Nazis had a paramilitary youth movement.

Obama said:"We cannot continue to rely only on our military to achieve the national security objectives we have set. We need to have a civilian national security force..."

Be Afraid.

Be Very Afraid.

I'm a Racist?

About a week ago I was sitting in Starbucks doing my homework. At the table next to me were two gay men in their thirties and three very very old women. They were all members of their church's choir (Can you guess the denomination?) and were talking about music for the upcomming services. Eventually, the subject of their conversation turned to politics, the women all hated Sarah Palin one even saying that she was a traitor to women. One of the men criticized her for haveing so many children. One of the women said she should have encouraged her daughter to have an abortion and have a life instead of having a baby and marrying the father. One of the men said every one who does not vote for Obama is racist. The other mand said only ignorant rednecks will be voting for McCain. Then I felt personally insulted.

I didn't interject but I really really wanted to. What would I have said? I would have said, "I'm not voting for Obama and it has nothing to do with race. I voted for a black man for presedent years ago. I voted for Alan Keyes for President in 2000 because he was the most pro-life small government candidate who was in the race. I guess you didn't vote for him because you're all racists. The reason I'm not voting for Obama is because I love liberty and babies and belive that Obama, a socialist and a pro-abort, is a threat to both."

So, what is it that makes liberals call Sarah Palin "stupid"? What is it that makes them accuse me of racism because I am not voting for Sen. Obama. What is it that makes them think I cling to religion and my guns because of bitterness? I think I can totally understand where they are comming from. In general, they think the well-being of the group is more important than the rights of individuals. THey think the liberty of women is more important than the lives of babies. They see armed individuals as a threat. They think wealth inequality is a bad thing. I understand all that and can put myself into their shoes and argue their positions, often, better than they can argue them (I've actually read Marx, Webber, Kinsey, Friedan, Rousseau, and Frued). I don't think they are stupid and I don't usually think they are racists, unless I see clear evidence of it. (I try hard not to tink evil of anyone.) Most of the time I think their problem is that they are deceived or are starting with the wrong pre-suppositions. (Although, I really do believe Obama is wicked based on his votes on the Born Alive Infants bill.) Why don't they do the same for Conservatives? Why do they think we are stupid racists?

No Lie

Sen. Obama says, "We're not going to be bullied, we're not going to be smeared, we're not going to be lied about."

Hmmm. Okay. Just the truth: You opposed protecting the lives of babies born alive. What you said was "What we are doing here is to create one more burden on women, and I can't support that." Never mind that the baby was born, that the cord was cut, that it was struggling to live. You said let it die.

You want to double the Capital Gains tax. The increasing value of capital is the #1 reason people invest in new businesses, save money, buy houses. It is the hope for profit that drives this economy. And more personally, my retirement depends on capital gains. And you want to tax that activity like it is some kind of social evil, like its gambling, smoking or drinking. You want to suppress job creation, savings, and home ownership? Are you insane?

You want to make college more affordable. How? By using the U.S. tax code to subsidize college tuition. Think about what that means. How is increasing the demand for a college education going to make college more affordable? Have you ever even heard of Adam Smith?

You aren't just wicked, you're stupid, too.

Catholic Leadership

Okay, all you Roman Catholics who vote for Democrats... Consider these words from a prince of your Church, Cardinal Eagan:

"What the Speaker had to say about theologians and their positions regarding abortion was not only misinformed; it was also, and especially, utterly incredible in this day and age. In simplest terms, they are human beings with an inalienable right to live, a right that the Speaker of the House of Representatives is bound to defend at all costs for the most basic of ethical reasons. They are not parts of their mothers, and what they are depends not at all upon the opinions of theologians of any faith. Anyone who dares to defend that they may be legitimately killed because another human being “chooses” to do so or for any other equally ridiculous reason should not be providing leadership in a civilized democracy worthy of the name."

For you Orthodox thinking of voting for Obama (or any other member of the death party), I remind you of 2,000 years of Church teaching. Beginning with the Didache (c. 70)and up to this day it has not changed.

1 There are two ways, one of life and one of death; and between the two ways there is a great difference.
2 Now, this is the way of life:…The second commandment of the Teaching: "Do not murder; do not commit adultery"; do not corrupt boys; do not fornicate; "do not steal"; do not practice magic; do not go in for sorcery; do not murder a child by abortion or kill a newborn infant.... Do not plot against your neighbor. Do not hate anybody; but reprove some, pray for others, and still others love more than your own life. - Didache

How can you even think about voting for someone who thinks its okay to kill babies? I tottaly understand not wanting to vote for Republicans who seem hell bent on waging war against other countries, but at least there is some moral defense of that practice (we have many soldier saints on our calendar). But baby killing? There is no defense of that practice. The Catholic is right about this: When a person thinks it is okay to kill babies that person "should not be providing leadership in a civilized democracy worthy of the name."
