Today

Anselm Samuel is sick so I am home with him.  Taking advantage of the time to get ready for Pascha: Boiling eggs, cleaning house, making sure we have have all the ingredients for paska and kulich.  Anselm and I will go to Holy Unction tonight.  But I am so tired.  That's one of the things I saw the doctor about yesterday.  All I want to do is sleeep.  TO much to do, though.  Looking forward to Pascha.  My wife is the parish warden so that means I'll be pretty busy helping her do crowd control and other stuff the warden has to do.

Prayers indeed.
I am curious as to what duties a Parish Warden has on Pascha. Prayers for you and your lovely wife.

We don't have a parish warden...
I will pray for you and your fatigue and other doctor things; I also have health problems this week that are either a wrench thrown into the engine of Holy Week or "the opportunity for ascetic effort" as was suggested to me -- hmm...which will I choose?

Mimi, from what she has told me, I am going to be running the indoor candle stand, drafting people to carry the banners and the Icon, making sure everyone is in their right places for the procession. She has other things she has to do, but I don't know what they are. Thank you for your prayers.

GretchenJoanna, but you have a huge parish! Who takes care of making sure you have candles, that the roof doesn't leak, that the wiring is up to code, who greets the bishop with sat and bread, who makes sure you have prosphora, who buys toilet paper, and sees to all the other non-liturgical physical needs of the parish? Do you have sign-up sheets and a lot of volunteers to do these jobs? If so, what a very wonderful parish!

We have a parish council who oversee many of those maintenance issues you mention. Our Sisterhood oversees the purchasing of fellowship hall supplies, sewing of vestments, and many other things covered by volunteers. We have a separate prosphora team of 6-8 people for that need, and a sacristan (who is also a reader) who organizes the many volunteer readers, candle lighting, procession and cleaning of the church. Yes, it is a very wonderful parish!
