Laid off

I figured it was coming when, for over a month, I was only getting 2 or 3 days of work each week, and even some of the most skilled men in the company were being sent home early because of no work.  I was laid off today.  Oh, well.  It was fun.  Things I got to do that I had never done before: Weld steel and iron, solder copper tubes, repair and install pumps, drive a bobcat, weave re-bar and pour concrete, and a bunch of other really fun things.  I, also, received a nicknme: Pipewrench. Now that part of my life is over. Time to find something else. And file for unemployment insurance.

Oh, wait mintue.  My wife just gave me a list...

Bathroom
Scrub the bathroom including the tub
Scrub the toilet
Mop the floor
Scrub the sink basin
Throw away the trash

While you are out get some quarters
Do the laundry including washing/drying/putting away

Kitchen
Get the dishes started
Clean off the counters
Take the recycling out
Sweep and mop the floor
Clean the kitchen table

Main room
Vacuum
Put away the clothes
Clean off the desk
Dust

Our bedroom
Wash all the bedding
Clean up the floor around the bed
If you don’t know where something goes, start a little pile and I will go through it when I have a chance

Tomorrow
Wash all the bedding including the boys
Make all the beds with clean linens
Be sure to also wash the bed pads
Clean the boys bedroom
Vacuum all the rooms
Clean out the refrigerator and wipe down all the surfaces

I did really well as a handyman for a long time. 45-65.00/hr. is the going rate. Unless you're working for you wife, of course.
