Last week I met a man who has never been out of California. I was astounded by that idea. By the time I was 16 years old I had been to more than a third of the
States and to 3 foreign countries.
It is easier for me to list the States I have not been in than those I have been in. So, on my list of States to visit are: Iowa, Pennsylvania, Kansas, West Virginia, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont, Connecticut,
Maine, and New Hampshire.
In about a month, my grandson is going to be born at a
U.S. Navy hospital in Maine, and I will be there. I'm going to fly into
Boston and drive up to Maine. That means that I'll be checking New Hampshire and Maine off my list. If I have time, maybe, I'll motor over to Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and therefore, be able to check all of
New England off my list. It's weird to me,
a Californian, how small those early States are.
