My son Basil was only 1 year old when my father died. He is 2 1/2 now. Today he asked me,"Where is my gradfather?" I said "your Papa died." Basil was very sad and repeated several times "My Papa is dead?" Every time he said it I wanted to die, too. I know He said that sighing and mourning will flee away but i wish the King would be a little bit faster.

ReplyDeleteMy youngest was three when my FIL died, and it is sad knowing that his memories will always be sketchy. And, he processed it a lot as he got more verbal and older.

ReplyDeleteCaleb called my father 'Papa' also. There's a little Chinese restaurant around the corner and we went there tonight (Caleb is turning 5 and wanted to go there to celebrate) Caleb always wants to order the chow mein because 'that's what Papa liked'.
