Today was my first day on my first post-training assignment. The assignment is managing the VTA's "lost and found" and protecting the people who work in the downtown center. I am astounded by the hundreds of wallets and purses and iPhones our passengers find and turn in. A note on the wallets and purses: almost all of them are full of cash. Many of them contain hundreds of dollars. Today I had the pleasure of returning several purses and wallets and more than $300 dollars to the people who left them on our trains and busses. I almost wept for joy at the goodness of my fellow citizens. But I was also told which windows I could shoot through and which windows are impervious to bullets because not all of my fellow citizens are good people.
After work Kathleen and I went and voted. I feel sad for the people I voted for in the primary because not since 1988 has a person I voted for in the primary election gone on to win the general election in November.
Then we went to see this movie about the American Revolution. And, yes, I wept. And am resolved to go meet with my state senator next week to talk to him about that repugnant tax on homeowners.

That does sound like very satisfying work, to return lost belongings to people! Do they come to the downtown center to retrieve their things?
Where did you have to go to see that movie? I plugged in several locations and it said, "Unfortunately, this event is not showing near you." How wonderful that Hillsdale has made this film!
