Last week I met a man who has never been out of California.  I was astounded by that idea.  By the time I was 16 years old I had been to more than a third of the 
States and to 3 foreign countries.  
It is easier for me to list the States I have not been in than those I have been in.  So, on my list of States to visit are: Iowa, Pennsylvania, Kansas, West Virginia, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont, Connecticut, 
Maine, and New Hampshire. 
In about a month, my grandson is going to be born at a 
U.S. Navy hospital in Maine, and I will be there.  I'm going to fly into 
Boston and drive up to Maine.  That means that I'll be checking New Hampshire and Maine off my list.  If I have time, maybe, I'll motor over to Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, and therefore, be able to check all of 
New England off my list.   It's weird to me, 
a Californian, how small those early States are.
